This list details the various systems of government present in Cydria and also provides the names or family names of their respective political leaders. This is a first come, first served deal. Should you wish to fill any of these positions, you must message an administrator and complete a character application.

humans - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The human political system is broken. Originally, Wynth was a totalitarian military state, with the commander of the army governing. He spent most of his days away at war, however, and in his absence, con artists and soldiers on leave bullied the people to collect war taxes. The families fortunate enough to collect this money established themselves as rulers. Now, Wynth is an oligarchy. The peasants have no say, the soldiers are utilized as a police force, and the rich families write the laws. When the head of one family dies, power shifts to his or her oldest child.

lycanthropes - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - War has always been the lycanthropes' universal purpose for existence. As such, their political infrastructure caters to their blood lust. They are a totalitarian military state. The commanding military officer writes laws and impose taxes while the military generals provide council and support. Similar to their human counterparts, soldiers are utilized to keep the peace and punish criminals. Army commanders must retire at the age of fifty-five, at which time their position is passed to the most aggressive most politically shrewd general. Since war is no longer permitted, generals are chosen based upon successful training exercises and top test scores.

mages - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mages have formed an oligarchy of sorts. They are governed by families lead by the oldest/wisest/most powerful of their race. However, when the family head dies, command is not shifted to his or her oldest child. Instead, any and every powerful mage over the age of forty years can vie for the position. This usually results in the bloody death of a number of competitors. Families are not a prerequisite for leadership, however. Also, family heads can be challenged to duels by any mage meeting the previously mentioned requirements. The winner of the duel secures a position of leadership for him or her self. mer - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This barbarian race is quite behind the times. They are governed absolute-monarchy style, by the members of a single bloodline. The first-born male of each generation becomes king following the death of his parent, marries a queen, and must produce a male heir to continue the family's rule. If a king fails to do so, his brother takes over in the instance of his death. If no brother is available, the position is open to any warrior up to fighting for it. Now that war has been disallowed, the military has been converted to palace guards, charged with protecting the royal family and enforcing law. All soldiers are male. The Captain of the Guard commands them. He can be any soldier over the age of eighteen who has proven himself in training exercises.

vampyrs - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Vampyrs are the most liberal race on the island. They've established a democracy. All members of their race over the age of eighteen years convenes at a council, which is held in various locations based upon their current territory. Any in attendance can offer forth his or her suggestions on how to better the race, then the three oldest vampyrs present confer. The suggestions they feel would best benefit everyone are put to a vote. If two thirds of the vampyr community votes in favor of a suggestion, it becomes a law (or a tax, depending).
