HISTORY :: Adella was sheltered from the outside world. Her parents wanted her to have nothing to do with the war that was raging on outside. They hoped maybe one day it would be over, and she would never know any of what had happened. Unfortunatly, the war raged on, and as she became older, she grew more and more interested in the forbidden 'outside world.' To keep addy occupied she piled on the chores, cooking, cleaning, she learned very early on how to keep house. She didn't know it, but she was a big help to her parents, and they were relieved it took away the desire to go wandering off, at least for the moment.
One dark stormy day her mother came home, alone. Something she never did. She and her father did everything together. She knew immediately something was terribly wrong. It wasn't long before her mother broke into tears and feel to her knees. Adella was right there comforting her. She didn't need to ask what had happened, she knew. Her father was dead. She didn't know how. She thought all was peaceable out there, she couldn't piece it together. “how did it happen?” she whispered. Her mother continued to sob.
the days turned into weeks, and poor addy, only fourteen years old was left to care for her mother. the woman who had no will left to live. she didn't go out anymore, she simply laid in bed. ella begged and pleaded with her to eat, and to get up. their food supply was low and she had no idea how to hunt. she didn't know what she was to do. after weeks of pleading her mother got up, got the bow, and took the child outside. she was fascinated by everything. it was her first time away from home. her mother clutched the bow with one hand, and in the other she held addy's hand, continually squeezing it tighter and tighter.
they reached the woods, the hunting grounds. her mother showed her how to use the weapon, still with little emotion. ella was happy that she had at least gotten her sorry self out of bed. they had both taken a hit, but she didn't it was fair for her mother to just give up. she hadn't. after a few hours they had little to show, it hadn't been a very successful trip. she noticed her mothers sunken eyes, her graying hair, and her deepening wrinkles. her stomach turned uneasily. once home her mother went back to bed, adella could hear her quiet sobs.
she fixed some breakfast and sneaked in to the room her mother was staying, she left it on the nightstand, and snatched the bow out of the corner. she opened the door quietly and shut it behind her. she couldn't understand why she wasn't allowed outside. she inhaled deeply as she marched towards the forest, she was determined to bring something home this evening. mid-day she met someone, not knowing any better she stayed as he approached .he looked different, but she shrugged it off. she wasn't aware that he wasn't part of her race.
"I can see you're having a bit of trouble with that bow." he said with a smile. she nodded. For a few hours the vampyr helped her. she invited him for dinner, he accepted. when they got home her mother was at the table. as soon as she saw the man her eyes widened with panic and fear. she grabbed addy and shoved the man out the door. she quickly locked the large wooden door behind her. she began to sob again. she took addy by the hand and lead her to her bedroom.
she sat on the bed, motion for the girl to sit next to her. 'adella.' she began. 'you shouldn't have done that.' she paused thinking over her words carefully. 'that.. that man.. well, he wasn't really a man, ella.' she paused yet again trying to keep her composure. 'he was a vampyr. the very creature that killed your father.' with that, her mom went to pieces. ella's gaze was fixed on the floor as tears streamed down her face. how could she make such a mistake? she endangered her own life, and her mothers. and look at what she had done to her mom.
ella wasn't sure how long had passed before her mother spoke again. she apologized for not telling her sooner, of any of this. then she went on to explain about the different races, and creatures, and of the war. she explained everything. she felt numb, yet everything her mom said she took in and understood. A wave of emotions hit her, confusion, anger, and guilt. Why hadn't she told her soon? All those feelings and hurt might not be present if only they'd had this talk sooner. A hate was now sparked within her, she hated vampyrs. They were the cause of her fathers death.
Life went on as usual. Her mother slowly progressed, and taught adella more about surviving in the cruel world they lived in. she taught her more about races and their weakness. Five years went by, little addy had grown up. She was now nineteen years old. She hadn't planned on leaving home to live elsewhere since her mom had become so frail. Every time she thought a lot about her late husband she got bad, weak, and just ill-feeling. She couldn't leave her mom like that.
Late on evening she came home. She heard a blood curdling scream come from inside the house. She ran inside to see the vampyr, the same vampyr from five years ago. She was too late, she saw her mothers corpse in a heap on the floor. She was horrified. She couldn't do anything. She knew the only way to kill a vampyr was a steak right through the heart. She had nothing of that sort. She swallowed the lump in her throat. The figure suddenly appeared in the doorway, grinning. He slowly walked toward her, she backed away until her back was against the wall. She felt his cold, dead, body up against hers. She felt his hands on her face as he brushed her hair off her face. “ hello adella. “ he whispered in her ear. She felt his lips run from her ear to her neck, his cold lips sent a chill down her spine. She cringed as his fangs poked through her flesh. Almost instantly she felt weakened, but she was still able to grab an arm and bit it. The taste of blood was repulsive, and made her want to vomit, but she swallowed it anyway.
She felt her body collapse on the floor, and heard the gentle footsteps, then the door, as he walked out. It was all a blur when she awoke. She didn't know quite how long she's been in the state of unconsciousness. She knew she'd just become the very thing she despised. She went over to her loving mother's body, unaware that tears were streaming down her face. She turned away and left her there on the floor, she didn't know what to do, she could hardly control herself. She felt the urge to run, so she acted on it, and she ran. She ran as fast, and as far as she could.
She was afraid of hurting people so she stayed far away from them, rarely showing her face. She hated what she is, she wasn't easily coming to terms with the monster within her. She's torn between the caring, adventurous girl she was, and the angry hate-filled person she is. She wantss revenge in the worst way, but she knows how many people she can easily hurt. The bottom line is, it all scares her, and even after two years she isn't hasn't stopped scaring her. She knows she can handle it, she's got eternity to get a handle on this life.
ROLE PLAY SAMPLE ::aubrey laughed even harder at his remark. she loved his sense of humor, how he always came up with the cutest things to say. she felt him poke her nose gently and watch him undo his cape. her heart skipped a beat as she heard him whisper back. aubrey felt his wet fingers running through her hair, she loved when he did that. "Here, you'd make a sexier superhero than me anyway" she frowned slightly, he needed it more than she did. he was soaked. ' i know i do ' she teased. ' but you need it more than i do. ' she unwrapped the towel from her shoulders and wrapped it around his. she slipped her arms around his waist again and leaned in to him. the cold wasn't unbearable, and she was here with her fiancée, nothing was better than that. she was quickly adjusting to the term 'fiancée', she liked it better than 'boyfriend' anyhow. as soon as kris left she was going to call her parents and tell them the news, then she'd call every one of her friends, and tell she was soon to be mrs. chase. and after that she's grab a pen and paper and practice writing her new name until she perfected it.
planning the wedding was going to be fun. she wanted everything to be perfect. the whole day was to be perfect. she hoped kris wouldn't find it totally and utterly boring, and that he would actually like helping. either way he would help, it would just be alot better if he enjoyed it. the invitations, the cake, flowers, the place, the date, the dress, which of course he wouldn't be allowed to see till the wedding day. everyone would know it was bad luck to let the groom see his bride's dress before the wedding. she didn't believe anything bad could ever happen to their relationship. the only 'bad' thing was when they went their separate ways for a little while. obviously they got back together, and she lied saying she hadn't seen anyone. it wasn't a big deal. it wasn't something she would ever tell him. so since she didn't want any bad luck she planned on taking a family member or a friend to help her pick out the gown. deedee would love her in anything, she was sure of it.
looking outside the rain had slowed even more and was now just a gentle shower. the clouds weren't as thick and the blue sky could be seen in places. she held him tighter as she thought about the cold rain, any excuse to latch onto him tighter. the rain may have been viewed as a negative thing, but it wasn't. she never wanted to leave his arms. what was better than being stuck inside a cave with him? she smiled at the thought. she'd been lost in her thoughts and hardly heard kris speak. 'i'll always worry about you because i love you.. ' she said thoughtfully. ' oh noo, i don't think you want me nursing you back to health. i'm dexter, remember? i might try some experimental medicine or something on you.. ' she paused. ' and i don't want to be single again. ' she grimaced at the thought of him passing away. the day he died, she would die inside as well. there would be no point in life if he wasn't in it.
she looked up into his eyes, and pictured him standing on the alter. that day couldn't come soon enough. ' i can't wait to start planning the wedding! ' she squealed. she hoped he'd be just as excited as she. she never even got to plan birthday parties, so this was really exciting for her. she wanted it to be a big wedding, but even if it wasn't it would be alright. as long as she was marrying him the day would be perfect. she had already starting making a mental guest list, and picturing the cake, and the gown. she couldn't get out of her head the idea of having the wedding here. a building might be nice though, not so sandy. this was going to be her wedding, she wasn't going to allow family members or friends to plan it, only she and kris.
