It's 2050, and every day is a struggle to survive.

Ten years ago, a virus escaped from a lab in New Jersey. Spreading west swiftly, it was dubbed the Mange Virus, and it transformed all those who contracted it into mindless beasts. The government swiftly collapsed, the remnants fleeing to labs in the country, trying in vain to synthesize a cure. The small percentage of people who were immune banded together in small communities in the suburbs, while the cities became dens of Infected. Now, Immunes only risk traveling to the cities when supplies are needed. Over the years, life for them has become something like normal...

But it won't stay that way for long.

Within the city of Chicago, various factions are vying for control. Stella's Freedom, a paramilitary organization centered in the city itself, fights to kill as many Infected as possible. The mysterious Sanctum of the Possessor, a strange cult, claims more and more people each day. And during a supply run, one Immune girl from the suburbs discovers something no one thought possible: Carriers. Able to contain the virus in their body without letting it overtake them, Carriers might be able to provide a cure for the virus. But not all Immunes are friendly to the half-feral Carriers, and the Carriers may want nothing to do with Immunes. And the question of the cure may not even survive the battles to come...

Ten years ago, everything came crashing down.

Now we have to decide what will rise from the remains.
